You can save files from OnDemand to your local workstation, for example, when running an Advanced Export from ACS People, and you can transfer files from your local hard drive or network into OnDemand, for example, pictures to import into people's records or a document for a mail merge. What do you want to do?
Save Files from OnDemand Transfer Files Between Your Hard Drive and the OnDemand Server Saving Files from OnDemand You can still save files from OnDemand to your local hard drive, for example, when you save an Advanced Export in ACS People. When you save a file from OnDemand to your local hard drive, your options will look much the same as they do in the desktop version of the software. However, you should not select the options for My Documents or Desktop, as this will save the files to our OnDemand servers as opposed to your computer. In order to save the files to your workstation, you must select your local C drive, which displays in OnDemand as the J Drive in most cases. It is usually listed as Client C (J:).
Related Topics Managing Your Files Transferring Files Between Your Hard Drive and the OnDemand Server Transferring Files Between Your Hard Drive and the OnDemand Server You may want to import files into your software program, for example, a document you created to use with a mail merge, or pictures for ACS People records. When working with these files, we recommend copying them from your local or network drive to the OnDemand server through File Manager.
This way, the files will load quicker and without interference. The File Manager is located on the OnDemand desktop.
A common example of this is importing pictures into ACS People records. You can copy the folder containing the picture files into OnDemand (the S Drive) through the File Manager. When importing the pictures into people's records, you can select the folder you copied into the OnDemand server. Another example is attaching files to s being sent from OnDemand. If you attach the file directly from a local or network drive, the will likely get hung up and not send. To avoid this, you can copy the file from your local drive into OnDemand through the File Manager first. Working with File Manager File Manager is divided into two panes: OnDemand Drive and Client File System.
The OnDemand Drive is the S drive, which is where your software and data are stored. Every user who logs in has his or her own user directory that contains a My Documents folder. Client File System displays the local and network drives you have access to. In most cases, your local C drive is listed as J: (Client C) in OnDemand. Copyright 2014, ACS Technologies 4. 5 If you save a file to the OnDemand server, you can also transfer it back to a local or network drive through the File Manager.

Under Icon Settings, click Manage. Click New Folder. Copyright 2014, ACS Technologies 7. 9 Setting a Single Login for OnDemand and your Software Applications You can set up OnDemand to remember your login credentials for your software applications such as ACS, HeadMaster, and PDS. ACS, Access ACS, and Facility Scheduler We strongly recommend using your OnDemand user name and password to begin the two-part process below since it has the most stringent requirements for password creation.
Caution Access ACS and Facility Scheduler do not allow the following symbols that OnDemand may allow: /;% ' ' Follow both sets of procedures to complete the conversion to a single user name for OnDemand, ACS, Access ACS, and Facility Scheduler. If you only want to have the same login credentials for OnDemand and ACS, follow the first set of procedures. To set up a single login for ACS OnDemand Confirm your OnDemand user name and password.
In ACS People, under Advanced Tools, select Add/Edit Users. Select the Login Users Automatically check box. Select the user you want to add an OnDemand login to, then click Edit. In the Network Login Name field, enter your OnDemand user name.
Useful Information This does not change your ACS user name, but causes the ACS programs to recognize your login to OnDemand as sufficient credentials to proceed. ACS user names are limited to 8 characters, while OnDemand user names are typically longer since they are unique across all users at all sites. Since Access ACS and Facility Scheduler share user names and passwords once the two user accounts are linked, you can change the information once in Access ACS, and it will carry over to Facility Scheduler.
No need to enter duplicate information just follow the steps below to complete the process. To change a User Name in Access ACS/Facility Scheduler In Access ACS, point to Admin, then click Security. In the user list, click the User Name you want to change. Under User Options, click Edit. Change the user name, then click Save.
Copyright 2014, ACS Technologies 9. 10 HeadMaster You can also set up OnDemand to remember your login credentials for HeadMaster so you don't have to enter this information each time. To set up a single login for HeadMaster OnDemand Log in to OnDemand with your OnDemand user name and password. On the OnDemand desktop, double-click HeadMaster. Enter your HeadMaster user name and password, then select Remember Me. Useful Information This does not change your HeadMaster user name or password.
Selecting this option saves your HeadMaster login information with this OnDemand user name and allows you to proceed without entering this information each time. PDS You can set up OnDemand to remember your login for PDS products so you don't have to enter this information each time.
To set up a single login for PDS OnDemand Ensure that all OnDemand logins for all users are set up. For each PDS program, launch the program and go to Administration Users & Passwords. If you currently have security enabled, rename the existing user names to match the OnDemand user names.
If you don't have security enabled, add new user names for each OnDemand user and use the same user names set up for OnDemand. Review and set the Access and Privileges levels to control what each user has access to in each program. In Other Tasks click Set Security Method. Select The user name is detected by OnDemand authentication Click Save/ OK. Copyright 2014, ACS Technologies 10 11 7. Restart the program - you will not be prompted to enter the user name and password again as long as the list of users contains a valid OnDemand username. You will be logged into the program as the same user used to log into OnDemand.
Repeat steps 2-7 for each PDS program. Copyright 2014, ACS Technologies 11. 12 Printing with OnDemand We highly recommend using either a PostScript (PS) or Printer Control Language (PCL) printer for all your OnDemand printing needs. OnDemand uses Adobe Acrobat Reader, which communicates with printers using PostScript printing language. PostScript, which is not handled well by older printers, is causing margins to be skewed when printing Adobe documents on a nonpostscript printer.
This can become a problem when printing documents like W2 forms and labels for which text placement is very important. OnDemand provides Universal PCL and PS Print Drivers from HP, Ricoh, Xerox, KonicaMinolta and Adobe for your printing convenience. Preview PDF When printing from OnDemand, you can preview the item as a PDF first as long as Adobe Acrobat Reader is installed on your workstation. Just select the Preview PDF option from the list of printers.
This option is particularly useful when printing mailing labels because you can further customize your printing options so that the labels are correctly aligned on the page. This also applies to any other reports where text placement is key. To use the Preview PDF option when printing In the Print window, select Preview PDF. When the PDF preview displays, click File Print. To align the text on the page If using Adobe Version 8, under Page Handling, set Page Scaling to None and clear Auto-Rotate and Center. If using Adobe Version 10.2, under Page Sizing & Handling, set the Size Option to Actual Size and the Orientation to Auto portrait/landscape. Copyright 2014, ACS Technologies 12.

Visit the training section of the Client Portal for more information. Copyright 2014, ACS Technologies 19 20 Using Palm and Finger Scanners in OnDemand Note The Palm and Finger Vein scanners are no longer available. Finger and Palm Vein Readers work with ACS CheckPoint and ACS Headmaster Desktop and OnDemand. To download the Palm and Finger Vein Scanner Guide, click here. Some organizations have replaced barcode scanners with vein scanners. Instead of scanning a key fob, members scan the veins of their palm or finger (depending on the scanner style) when they check in, creating a numeric code based on location of certain biometric points within their palm/finger.
Because vein patterns exist inside the body, it is practically impossible to recreate someone's biometric template. By connecting palm/finger vein scanning devices to check-in stations instead, of barcode scanners, and entering the vein ID in place of the individual s bar code, you can use palm and finger scanners instead of barcode scanners.
Scanners convert the vein locations in a person s palm/finger into a numeric code. Keep in mind, while this method is the most secure, it might take a while to create everyone s numeric profile. Bio Snap-On is a complete palm/finger vein recognition system that can be instantly integrated with any third party software package. It can be used to complement or replace any external barcode or magnetic stripe device with biometric identification. The vein scanning systems work by using both hardware and software in conjunction with ACS People, Checkpoint, OnDemand and HeadMaster v10.0. To learn more about the hardware and software requirements, click the links below.
Getting Started with Scanners Use the checklist below to install, set up, and begin using a palm/finger vein scanner. Install required hardware Setup and install scanners Register individuals Configure Checkpoint setup Copyright 2014, ACS Technologies 20 21 Troubleshooting Other scanners set up on my system are affecting the performance of the M2-FV Finger Vein Reader. Match the driver for the M2-FV Finger Vein Reader to the drivers already installed. If you are running Windows 7 with a 6 Client Driver (Legacy), you need to install an updated driver from Hitachi. Contact support to access the driver.
Do not install the server a second time. Only the client installation is necessary on second computers, however, you are required to configure the server path. I have a 64-bit operating system. The Palm Vein Scanner is compatible with a 64-bit operating system, if you use the hybrid software. The Finger vein scanner is currently only compatible with 32-bit operating systems. I'm using a Mac Currently the M2SYS Palm Scanners and Finger Vein Scanners are not compatible with a Mac operating system.
